Minutes of Radio Society of Tucson (RST) The meeting was opened at 7 pm Tuesday April 8, 2008 by President Randy Malick, KF0X. We went a round the room each attendee introduced themselves and talked about their favorite Ham gear. The evening’s presentation was by David, KD7LMI, about Repeaters, how they are constructed and used. The end was about DSTAR and RST’s new DSTAR Repeater on Mt Lemon. After the presentation there was extensive discussion about the new DSTAR repeater and plans for an additional RST repeater in down town Tucson. |

Radio Society of Tucson Meeting Minutes for 3/11/2008 President, Randy Malick, KF0X, called the meeting to order at 7 pm. The speaker was Bill Hickey, AB7AA, who talked on RACES Home Units. There was a break after the presentation, and then the meeting continued. We went around the room for individual introductions. The previous minutes were approved as posted on the RST web site. There were reports by Club officers and special interest groups * VE testing- last session there were 11 candidates (passed 5 new Techs, 2 Generals, and 2 Advanced) |

Radio society of Tucson – Minutes Feb 12, 2008 Meeting was held in St Philips Children’s Chapel Meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Vice President, Matt Grossman, AC7IL. He announced that Randy Malick, kf0x, the president, was out of town. The speaker for the evening was Katharine Kent from The Solar Store. She talked about Solar water heaters, Solar Electric Supply Systems, and Solar systems in general. When she finished there was a 10 minute break. The meeting resumed with the pledge without a flag. Discussions on organization, operating procedures, ALE (automatic link establishment) SHARES. MARS info at www.navymars.org. New members voted in: 17. Radio Society of Tucson Meeting Minutes Nov 13, 2007 Meeting was called to order at 7 PM by President Randy Malick. The guest speakers for the evening were Mark Frotz, N7MK and Chris Radicke, N7TWW they are owner operators of several repeaters in the Mesa area including D-Star on three bands. The topic was D-Star, (what is it, where is it, and how is it being used?). There was lots of interest and questions. D-Star is one of the fastest growing areas in ham radio. A copy of their power-point will be posted on the RST web-site. |

Radio Society of Tucson Minutes of meeting 10/09/2007 Meeting called to order by President Steve Lane, N7SCL at 7:00 pm. Around the room everyone introduced themselves. There were 35 people present. The speaker for the evening was Steve Franks, KE7BTE. He demonstrated and talked about "Radio Mobile" a software package that combines antenna characteristics, signal characteristics, and topology (land variations). Based upon these one can see the signal strength in the area surrounding a transmitter. |

Minutes and Notes of RST Meeting of August 14, 2007 The meeting was called to order by the Club President K7SCL, Steve. After introductions of the members and officers present Steve moved right into our presentation for the evening, Steve introduced the speaker, Fred Coe of the Forest Service. Fred explained the history of the Forest Service to present day. He included the history of the communication methods used in the early days up to and including the methods with which we use today. It was a very interesting session with numerous questions at the end of the session. |
