Short comments about the QSO Party last weekend...

The 7QP (7th Call Area QSO Party) at the Titan Missile Museum was a huge success last weekend! In our estimation, we had over 100 people stop by to visit us. Many saw it on TV, some saw it in the paper and others heard about it elsewhere. We even had one person from Phoenix and another from Scottsdale come down specifically to operate on that antenna. The monster discone antenna performed amazingly! The director of the museum said she was well over 100 paid admissions HIGHER than this same Saturday last year. RST Club definitely had a huge impact! There were several reasons people came to visit.

1. Former hams that wanted to get back into it.
2. People wanting to find out how to be a ham.
3. Hams that were not currently members of any club and were interested in joining RST.
4. Members of other clubs.
5. Members of RST.
6. People of the general public (non-hams) with curiosity.

We even had one couple drive down from Tucson because they read about it in the paper. They said they were having a major RFI problem with a neighbor and thought they could talk to us about solving it. After talking to them, it sounds like it may not be anything to do with ham radio at all, but just a loud stereo. In any case, we told them what to look for and what direction to go if indeed the problem continues. They now think hams are good people and not people that are out to disturb others. They were very happy when they left us.

To summarize, we made hundreds of contacts and more importantly, we pulled off a HUGE PR WIN!!! I was extremely proud to be an RST member. This was a great day. I will have pictures showing on-screen and a more in depth report at the next RST Club meeting coming a week from tomorrow (Tues) on May 13th.

Thanks to the dozens of members that showed up and made this a success!
